About Georges Limbert

Hi, my name is Georges Limbert, I am a French native, born in Africa, educated in France and England. I am also a keen traveller, amateur photographer and scuba diver. I am here to share some of my photographs with the hope that you will enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed taking them. Perhaps some of these pictures will inspire you to take on photography, travel the world, scuba dive, learn something new, or simply appreciate the diversity and beauty of our planet. If any of you are inspired that would make my day. If none of you are inspired … well, I will still carry on taking photos.

My journey into scuba diving began four decades ago and since then, I've had the privilege of diving in some of the world's most incredible locations. Underwater photography started two decades later as a logical progression of my passion for diving and photography.

From the crystal-clear waters of the Bahamas to the shark-rich coastlines of South Africa, I strive to capture the beauty and majesty of these magnificent creatures. My goal is to share the wonder of the underwater world and contribute to shark conservation through my images.

Since the days of my first Kodak Instamatic camera (i.e. a kind of prehistoric basic film camera) I received at the age of seven, photography has gradually become a passion. There are 2 important milestones in my life I should mention. First, when my parents took me to the cinema to see Jaws 2 in 1978 (bearing in mind I was only 3 when Jaws was released in 1975 and I had to wait a few more years to see it on TV). Secondly, when I started watching the TV adventures of Commandant Jacques-Yves Cousteau. Since then I knew that one day I would learn to dive, travel the world and dive with sharks, preferably with those of the dangerous and white kind. When I am not behind the camera or in the water I enjoy a career as an academic researcher and scientific consultant.
